Council holds regular Council meetings throughout the year at Council Chambers in Ballan.

Statutory Meeting of Council

Notice is hereby given that a Statutory Meeting of Council will be held in the Council Chambers, 15 Stead Street Ballan on Monday 18 November 2024 commencing at 6.00pm.

The Statutory Meeting of Council will be open to the public and will also be live-streamed on Council's website. 

Meeting schedule and details
  • Ordinary Meetings of Council are held on the first Wednesday of each month (excluding January). All meetings commence at 6pm
  • Special Meetings of Council are held throughout the year as required by Council in order to make decisions to very stringent timelines
  • Special Meetings of Council are held in accordance with Section 61 of the Local Government Act 2020 and Part 3.3.4 of Council's Governance Rules
  • Special Meetings usually take place in Ballan or will be held online in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions

Meeting framework

  • Our meeting framework has been implemented for the efficient and effective conduct of Council business
  • The framework allows for a transparent and interactive decision making process and provides an opportunity for the community to participate
  • Members of the community are always welcome and encouraged to attend any public meetings of Council
  • All meetings are advertised on the Council page in the Moorabool News and other local or regional newspapers as required
  • Council's Governance Rules stipulate the procedures governing the conduct of Council meetings and Special Committee meetings

Public Question Time

Public question time provides the public with an opportunity to address general questions to Council at an Ordinary Meeting each month.

Speak to an Item

If you would like to speak at a Council meeting in relation to an item on the agenda, you must register to Speak to an Item. 

Submit a speaker to an item registration online

Alternatively, complete and submit a Speaker to an Item registration form(PDF, 582KB) to governance@moorabool.vic.gov.au by 3pm on the day of the meeting. Requests received outside of this timeframe may not be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be a copy of the agenda available for me at the Council Meeting?

If you are interested in a particular item, we suggest that you download the agenda and any relevant attachments from the website, or if this is not possible, you can request a copy from the Council prior to the day of the meeting. Council will make approximately ten hard copies available at the Council Meeting, however it may not contain the attachments due to the size of the document.

When will the minutes become available on the website?

The minutes are published on the website on the Friday of the week of the meeting by 5pm.
