Major projects and works

Moorabool Shire Council is investing $55.89 million in capital works for the 2024-25 year to build and maintain the infrastructure needed for our fast-growing community. The capital works program and Council services are funded from a combination of rate revenue, government grants, and funding from State and Federal Government agencies.

Aqualink Cycling and Walking Corridor

Aqualink is a proposed, non-car-based transport option for the residents and visitors to Bacchus Marsh, and provide better access to the town’s main attractions and services.

Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve

State of the art facilities to support the diverse sport and recreation activities of local clubs and the Moorabool Shire community.

Capital Improvement Program

The 2024/25 Capital Works Program, worth $55.89 million enhances community infrastructure and facilities encompassing roads, facilities, properties and drainage improvement. Refer to the map for insight into project locations and schedules.

Bald Hill Activation Project

Location in Bacchus Marsh, the Bald Hill Activation Project will transform the region into an attractive tourist destination.

Ballan Library and Community Hub

Supporting arts, culture and literacy across Moorabool.

Dunnstown Recreation Reserve Pavilion Upgrade

The current pavilion at the Dunnstown Recreation Reserve will be extended to accommodate female friendly facilities, improved player amenities, additional storage space, first aid and meeting rooms as well as building access and service compliance improvements.

Darley Park Play Space

The Darley Park Play Space project will see a new and accessible play space constructed, along with landscaping and park furniture, for intergenerational use to encourage physical activity and community connectedness.

Masons Lane Reserve Off-Leash Dog Park

A designated off-leash dog park for Mason's Lane Reserve in Bacchus Marsh

McLean Reserve Upgrade

Works include construction of new playground, new shelter, new public toilet, hard and soft landscaping works.

Maintenance and Upgrades

Additionally, Council is responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of the following throughout the year: 

 - 280km of kerb and channel - that's Ballan to Dimboola! 

 - 1,000km of sealed roads - that's Ballan to Newcastle! 

 - 54 play spaces

 - 15 sportsgrounds 

 - Underground drainage covering a distance from Ballan to Ararat! 

 - 650km of unsealed roads covering a distance from Ballan to Adelaide!
