Moorabool Shire Council Mayor, Cr Rod Ward, will host an Australian Citizenship Ceremony on Saturday 7 October 2023 starting at 11am. The Ceremony will see 65 adults and 11 children proudly receive official Australian Citizenship.
New Australian citizens demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of Australian values, dedication and commitment to Australia by becoming official citizens at ceremonies held around the country.
Our newest citizens have travelled from countries across the globe including Chile, India, United Kingdom, Philippines, Fiji, South Africa, Vietnam, United States, France, New Zealand, Indonesia, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Ireland, Argentina, Mauritius, Thailand, Northern Ireland, Germany, Canada, Pakistan, Kenya and Malta.
Cr Ward said the event is a significant event in Council’s calendar and is an opportunity to reflect on the privilege of Australian citizenship and what it means to be Australian.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to give a warm welcome to our newest citizens and acknowledge the importance of what it means to become a full member of the Australian community. There is no greater privilege than our citizenship. It’s a life-long commitment to Australia’s values of freedom, democracy, equality and respect,” Cr Ward said.
Cr Ward said citizenship is the common bond uniting all Australians, whether you are a citizen by birth or by choice.
“I congratulate those becoming Australian citizens on making their commitment to Australia,” Cr Ward said.
