Council is inviting the community to join us to celebrate Reconciliation Week next week, with several events in the shire.
There will be a flag raising ceremony at The Village Green in Bacchus Marsh on Monday 27 May, from 10am-11am with light refreshments available afterwards.
On Wednesday 29 May, from 10am to 11am, there will be a flag raising event at the Council Chambers in Ballan followed by light refreshments, and a special story-time at Ballan Library at 11am.
Lerderderg Library will also host a special story-time on Thursday 30 May at 10am.
Mayor Cr Ally Munari encouraged the community to attend as many events as they liked.
“The week gives all Australians an opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and explore how we can achieve reconciliation in Australia,” Cr Munari said.
“In addition to our flag raising ceremonies and the wonderful Indigenous story-times at our libraries, there is an exhibition in our Bacchus Marsh and Ballan MAPP in Lights display by local artist Tanisha Quilliam, which will be on exhibition until the end of July, so I encourage the community to go and view her captivating art.”
More information on the events can be found on our website under the events tab.
