New sports hub coming to BMRRR
A new community and multi sports hub will be built at Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Recreation Reserve (BMRRR) thanks to lobbying from Council and a $4 million Australian Government funding.
Council was recently advised its application for funding under the Thriving Suburbs Program was successful. The grant is for the development of a fit-for-purpose community and multi-sports hub.
It will include accessible changerooms and public amenities, meeting rooms, catering/event-ready facilities for cultural festivals, expanded and upgraded sporting and co-joined playground infrastructure. It has been designed to meet the rapidly growing diverse aged and cultural population, supporting social cohesion and improved liveability.
“It’s fantastic to receive this news,” Mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.
“A community hub with changerooms and toilets was the missing link at the wonderful BMRRR precinct; to have a shared use facility in this growth area, will provide our community with a fantastic asset in a great location.”
