Barry Gilson | Welcome to Country | 5.30 - 6pm
Barry James Gilson is a Wadawurrung man.
A singer, award winning poet, writer, narrator and storyteller.
Barry specialises in bringing back the ancient words and language of his people.
Aunty Marlene Gilson | Projection on the Gordon Public Hall | 5pm - 8pm
Extending the existing colonial representations to include the indigenous communities and Chinese immigrants who were present but un-acknowledged in the images handed down from that time .Marlene Gilson has reclaimed and re-contextualised historical events such as the eureka stockade, William Buckley ( who lived with her tribe for 32 years ), colonisation and Australia’s pre- colonial history. Expressing Wadawurrung culture, through images of Bundjil the eagle and Waa the crow. Who are her two totems. She had various works on show around the world. One being a painting at the gallery of New South Wales, on permanent display with the old masters .
Adam Bennet | Projection | 5pm - 8pm
Artisan Jewel Artworld is owned by Adam Bennet, an emerging artist, who primarily works in wet and dry mixed media and digital media. He often employs pencils, paints, inks, and bold colours, in conjunction with high resolution printing and re-working techniques, to depict scenes inspired by nature and science. Adam currently lives and works in Gordon, Victoria.
