Recovery through the Arts
Council delivered a 'Recovery Through the Arts' program that included linocut print workshops and a 'Storm Choir' program in Blackwood during March 2023.
The 'Recovery through the Arts' program was a comprehensive community building program which sought to strengthen the Moorabool communities impacted by the June 2021 storms by bringing them together to engage in a creative activity.
Council engaged two local artists to lead the program, Cat Moser and Samantha Thompson, who have extensive community practice experience and delivered this program to bring community members together to engage in a creative activity.
Approximately 30 locals participated in the multiple workshops over a three week period. They all came together on March 26 for a celebration event and invited friends, family and community members to attend and listen to the choir and view the linocut prints created by the community.
The 'Recovery Through the Arts' program was coordinated by Council’s Storm Recovery team with support from Arts and Culture, through funding provided by Emergency Recovery Victoria.
Storm Choir was facilitated by Cat Moser, Storm Choir film made by Warm Egg Productions.
