Bacchus Marsh and District Historical Society Inc

The Society was established in 1968 by local residents concerned that much of the town's history, in the form of documents, photographs and artefacts, was being lost as time passed.

  • The purposes of the association are—
  •  
  • Undertake and promote the study, collection and preservation of any item pertaining to the history of Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding district.
  • Undertake and promote the study and preservation of the history and heritage sites of Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding district.
  • Engage with the community by running activities to support learning about the history and heritage of Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding district.
  • Obtain and maintain premises for the purpose of storage, access and display of the Society’s collection.
  • Make the Society’s collection available to the public and promote and support the collection’s use for historical research and the enjoyment of our heritage.
  • Affiliate with other organisations that have aims and objectives that align with the Society’s purposes.
  • Elect Trustees for the Mona Denny (Bacchus) Memorial Trust in accordance with the charter of the said Trust.

Apart from the elected Committee that has oversight and responsibility for day-to-day operations of the Society, there are four working groups that focus on specific functions of the Society.
