There are no waste collections on Christmas Day - collections will occur the day after the usual schedule for this week until Saturday.
Dementia is a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders that affect the brain. It can affect thinking, behaviour, and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Brain function can be so impacted that it often interferes with the person’s normal social or working life.
Around 470 people residents in the Shire live with Dementia. This is forecast to increase to around 3,206 people by the year 2050 (Dementia Australia).
The Bacchus Marsh Dementia Alliance was formed to support our local residents living with dementia by keeping them actively involved in their local community.
Djerriwarrh Health Community Services, Victoria Police, community members, and organisations joined forces to increase awareness and reduce the stigma associated with dementia.
Dementia Australia has also started a social revolution by asking as many people as possible to sign up to become a dementia friend. The online training consists of 3 modules that take about 5 minutes each. For more information about this initiative please email dementiafriendly@dementia.org.
