Community playgroups are for parents and carers and their children aged from 0 - 5 years.
Community playgroups are usually organised by parents, are low cost and provide families with the opportunity to meet other families and form friendships.

Interested in setting up your own playgroup?
To start your own community playgroup, you will need to find a venue, source some play resources and find families to attend. We can assist you with this, Contact us for advice and support. Playgroup Victoria also has a number of resources to assist with starting or finding a playgroup in your area.
Why not come along to a smalltalk supported playgroup? Smalltalk supported playgroups are funded by the Department of Education and Training, and delivered by Council. The program provides parents with strategies to enhance their child's home learning environment.

- Meet and connect with other parents
- Morning tea and lots of great play experiences for children to explore
Some parents are also eligible for In-Home Support that involves a qualified facilitator visiting a family in their own home. Parents participating in In-Home Support may also attend a smalltalk supported playgroup.
During these home-based sessions, parents see practical examples of the smalltalk strategies, and can practice ideas with a qualified facilitator.
When and where?
Eligibility
- Smalltalk supported playgroups are free and available to families with a health care card
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and children in kinship care arrangements
