If the details of your registered animal have changed you need to let us know.
Providing your current details is essential to ensure your pet is not mistaken for a stray, and it helps us reunite your pet with you much faster if they go missing.
If you move or change your phone number, don’t forget to update your details with Council, as well as the company that holds your pet's microchip information.
You can make changes to your animal's registration, such as:
- If your pet has moved to a different address or has moved out of Moorabool Shire
- If your pet has been desexed
- If a dog has been declared dangerous or menacing
- If your pet has been registered with an applicable organisation or has undergone obedience training with an approved organisation.*
- Other changes of information.
*Applicable organisations are:
Dogs: Dogs Victoria, Master Dog Breeders & Associates and Responsible Pet Breeders Australia.
Cats: Australian National Cats Inc, Feline Control Council (Victoria) Inc. and The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy Australia and Victoria Inc and Responsible Pet Breeders Australia.
Approved obedience training organisations are: DOGS Victoria, Australian Association of Professional Dog Trainers Inc, The Kintala Dog Club Association Inc, Four Paws K9 Training and Delta Institute.
Update microchip information
Any information stored on your pet's microchip is not kept by Council.
You should also update your pet's details with the relevant microchip registry. If you are not sure which registry your pets details are with, visit Pet Address to find out.
Unregistered animals
We will conduct random door-knocks throughout the year to check for any unregistered animals. Owners of any unregistered dogs or cats will receive an infringement notice.
Pet identification tags
We provide lifetime tags for pet registration.
Your pet should wear the tag at all times. Fines apply if your pet is found outside your premises without its council tag.
If your tag becomes damaged or lost, contact us for a replacement.
Additional animals
If you are planning to add additional animals to your property, you need to check whether you need an additional animals permit
