Darley Park Recreation Reserve is located on Grey St, Darley and is the home of a number of sporting and community activities.

In 2023, the $5.1 million Darley Park Community and Sports Centre pavilion was completed which accommodates the increased demand and exponential growth and participation of the local community.

The pavilion includes:

  • Umpire change rooms that cater for diversity
  • Public amenities that address public safety and accessible entry requirements
  • First aid rooms
  • Storage
  • Commercial kitchen
  • A meeting room and social space, enhancing the development of community programs and containing technology to support learning and opportunities for improved collaboration
  • Female friendly change amenities

The centre removes barriers to female participation and usage by providing suitable facilities and amenities built to female friendly standards and that cater to AFL, netball and cricket. It provides a premium venue that makes the best use of its prominent and central location for the growing Darley community. This allows community to access large scale events within their neighbourhood.

The Darley Park Community and Sports Centre was delivered by Moorabool Shire Council, in partnership with the State Government and in collaboration with the Darley Football Netball Club.

Other facilities within the Darley Park reserve include playground, picnic, and BBQ facilities, BMX track, a native garden and pathways.

Darley Park Play Space

The Darley Park Master Plan (adopted in 2021) identified the need for a playground upgrade. A community survey, which allowed the community to indicate the type of play equipment they wanted at the new play space, also found almost 700 people aged 55+ years provided unpaid childcare to someone else's children, identifying a strong need for an intergenerational play space where seniors and children can interact and engage in physical activity together.

The new play space is located on the corner of Grey and Fitzroy Streets. It includes:

  • Soft landscape (irrigated lawn area and tree planting)
  • Footpaths, including a connecting path to the pavilion
  • Picnic tables and park benches
  • Drinking fountain
  • Play equipment - sandpit with shade sail, rockers, carousel, swings and climbing equipment

Council received $200,000 from the State Government's Living Local - Regional Grants Program in 2022, going toward an over $800,000 project.
