From Wednesday 8 January, works will begin on a new playground, shelter, public toilet and landscaping. The reserve will be closed during construction and set to re-open in late June. Additionally, the existing public toilet will be unavailable from Monday 17 March until late June. Temporary toilets will be in place. We appreciate your patience as we enhance this space.
McLean Reserve is located at the corner of Fisken and Inglis Streets in Ballan, and plays a significant role as a central civic space for the local community.
The reserve was named after A.A McLean, a former secretary and engineer of the Ballan Shire, who retired in 1975 after 45 years of service.
This centrally located reserve is a charming small park that includes information boards, a water refilling station, picnic tables, shaded areas, and a small fenced playground.
It features two historic items of interest - a former water trough, and the ANZAC tree which is an Aleppo Pine, grown from a seed from the Lone Pine tree at Gallipoli.
McLean Reserve is also the home of the Ballan MAPP Up in Lights outdoor gallery. Be sure to see what's on display at your next visit to the reserve.
