Visitors to the Moorabool region are often pleasantly surprised to discover mineral springs in the area.
Blackwood Mineral Springs are situated on the banks of the Lerderderg River. Here, you can sample some mineral water, take a walk across the footbridge to enjoy views down the creek, or head off on one of the longer walking tracks. Be sure to keep an eye out for the resident Kookaburras!
Blackwood Mineral Springs Reserve has expansive picnic and barbecue facilities. There are multiple undercover picnic areas set throughout the reserve which feature free barbecues, picnic tables and bench seating.
There are several mineral spring taps to sample from, including a Soda Spring on the car park side of the river, while another mineral spring is situated directly on the other side of the river, accessed via a footbridge. These waters have travelled deep underground for several kilometres, and have significantly reduced chloride and sulphate concentrations.
The mineral spring is the starting point for walking tracks that will take visitors to Shaws Lake via Sweet’s Lookout. Shaws Lake is also accessible via a short drive.
