Visitors to the Moorabool region are often pleasantly surprised to discover mineral springs in the area.
Spargo Creek Mineral Reserve offers access to free-flowing water directly from the mineral spring with water emerging from an outlet in a built retaining wall. The mineral spring is located in a lovely setting with native vegetation and local wildlife in abundance. Facilities include vehicle access and parking area, and a small paved area surrounding the spring.
In 2023, Council commissioned two sculptures to support Indigenous interpretation of mineral springs sites. The aim was to reconnect the Ballan and Spargo Creek mineral springs sites with the Moorabool River, and to acknowledge Indigenous connection to these places.
You will find Brim Brim, one of the two sculptures, at the Spargo Creek Mineral Springs Reserve. Read more on the sculptures here.
Spargo’s Mineral Water is of the Sodium bicarbonate type - often referred to as a ‘soda water’. The water has a sweet taste.
