Werribee Gorge State Park

The Moorabool region is a hiker’s paradise. Surrounded by stunning wilderness, native flora and fauna, gorges, rivers, picnic grounds, mineral springs and trails to suit hikers of all experience levels, there’s something for everyone in our State parks and forests.

Displaying 500 million years of geological history, Werribee Gorge State Park retains a wild, rugged natural beauty. The park offers spectacular views, great opportunities for bushwalking and rock climbing, and contains some splendid plants such as the white-flowered Snowy Mint-bush and red-tinged Wedge-leaf Hopbush.

Birdlife is also prolific with Wedge-tailed Eagles and the Peregrine Falcon to be spotted. Other native wildlife present includes echidnas, koalas, platypus and kangaroos.

Enjoy a picnic with family and friends at Meikles Point or Quarry Picnic Areas where fireplaces, picnic tables and toilets are provided.
