Use this A-Z recycling and waste guide to help you make the best decision when clearing out common items from the kitchen, garage and everywhere else in your home.

Many items can be recycled into new products, saving valuable resources, energy, and landfill space. A cost may be associated with some disposal or recycling services – contact the provider first to check.

Egg cartons (cardboard only)

- Recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid)
- Recycle at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
- Recycle in your home compost bin
- Reuse by giving to people with chickens or to kids for craft projects
- Use to raise seedlings

Eggs and shells

- Recycle in your home compost bin, worm farm, Bokashi bin or green cone solar composter
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Electric blanket

- Contact your local animal shelter or vet – find out if they will accept electric blankets
- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Cut off the electrical cables and recycle the cables at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
- Never put any electronic item in a household bin, e-waste is banned from landfill and is a contaminant in the recycling bin.

Electric scooters (mobility)

- Reuse by selling, swapping, giving away, or donating. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Electric toothbrush

Electrical appliances

- Reduce waste by purchasing high-quality items, keeping them maintained and only replacing at end of life
