Use this A-Z recycling and waste guide to help you make the best decision when clearing out common items from the kitchen, garage and everywhere else in your home.

Many items can be recycled into new products, saving valuable resources, energy, and landfill space. A cost may be associated with some disposal or recycling services – contact the provider first to check.

Recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station

Make-up containers / packaging

Collect and donate empty containers at any Moorabool Shire transfer station or office as part of our One Stop Drop program

Make-up pads (cotton or other)

Avoid waste by using reusable face cloth instead

Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Massage chairs

- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away or donating. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Take to a Moorabool Transfer Station (fees may apply)

Massage mats/pads (electric)

- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Mattresses

- Contact Bacchus Marsh Rotary: Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN) to confirm if this item is accepted for donation
- Recycle by donating to Vinnies Bacchus Marsh if in good condition
- Recycle at a Moorabool Transfer Station (fees apply)

Meat trays (foam / polystyrene)

Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Meat trays (plastic)

- If numbered 1, 2 or 5 - recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
- If numbered 3,4,6,7 dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)
- Use as seed raising trays – make drainage holes first

Medicine bottle (plastic)

- If numbered 1, 2 or 5 - recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
- If numbered 3,4,6,7 dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Medicines (old)

- Dispose of old medicines safely by returning to your local pharmacy via the Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) scheme

Never flush down the toilet or put in your waste bin.
