Use this A-Z recycling and waste guide to help you make the best decision when clearing out common items from the kitchen, garage and everywhere else in your home.

Many items can be recycled into new products, saving valuable resources, energy, and landfill space. A cost may be associated with some disposal or recycling services – contact the provider first to check.

Tablets (e.g. iPads)

- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Never put any electronic item in a household bin, e-waste is banned from landfill and is a contaminant in the recycling bin.

Tea (loose leaf)

- Recycle in your home compost bin, worm farm, Bokashi bin or green cone solar composter
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Tea bags

- Reduce waste by using loose-leaf tea and a refillable 'tea swag'
- Put tea bags in your compost bin or worm farm. Most tea bags contain plastic and synthetic materials (e.g. plastic, staples) which will not break down but can be removed when you use your compost.
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Televisions

- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Timber and fencing

- Reuse at home for gardening projects

Tissues

Avoid waste by using cloth hankies

- Recycle by adding to your compost bin

Toilet paper rolls

- Reuse to raise seedlings
- Recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station

Toner cartridges

Recycle at the sorting stations at:

- Ballan Council Office, 15 Stead Street, Ballan
Darley Council Office, 182 Halletts Way, Darley

- Recycle through the Cartridges 4 planet Ark program
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Tyres

- Recycle at any Moorabool Shire Council transfer station (fees apply)
- It is illegal to dump or burn tyres. Penalties apply.
